Trauma geinformeerde BJJ training

Quote uit artikel: “Within the last decade, the Women Empowered (WE) program based on the Gracie system of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has experienced an important transformation as Eve Torres Gracie, and Victoria Gracie (the wives of Rener and Ryron Gracie, Helio’s grandsons) added a much-needed female perspective to the curriculum”.

Quote over ‘Anna’ haar ervaringen:’
“ Her description of how she responded differently to the attacker’s picture online after she successfully passed her test suggests that the test preparation and test itself allowed the memory to shift how it is stored in the brain and ultimately reconsolidate.

This entire experience and its outcome is an example of what van der Kolk (2014) and many others in the field describe as bottom-up healing, or allowing the body to have experiences that deeply and viscerally contradict the helplessness, rage, and collapse that result from the trauma”.
